Comparison has been on my heart a lot lately and I think it’s something that so many of us struggle with, especially in a media driven society. I want to remind you that social media is only a small part of the whole picture and what you see is generally a collection of the highlights. I am not against social media, because I think it can be used for good and to help spread love and encouragement. But I do think that it’s important to be cautious with the time we spend on it and how we use it. You and I both have the opportunity to use social media for good, so let’s do our part and encourage others along the way because everyone is so valuable. Below is a small journal entry I wrote on comparison:
Don’t diminish your value and purpose by comparing to someone else’s value and purpose. Everyone is so vital and has an important part to play in God’s bigger picture. If we spend our time and energy comparing our life to someone else’s, we will miss out on what God has in store for us. Also, don’t be afraid to celebrate and encourage others along the way. Life is so much sweeter when we choose to celebrate each other’s wins rather than compare them.
So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t”-Romans 12:5-6
I hope this brought someone encouragement today! Thank you for reading, have a wonderful day! 🙂
